Circle Line 6 Closing the Loop System of Circle Line 6 Enjoy a lot more direct routes to the Central Business District, Marina Bay and the HarbourFront area. The Circle Line 6 (CCL6) extension will add three stations between HarbourFront and Marina Bay MRT stations, closing the loop for CCL. The stations are: Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road. The entire CCL will link to all existing train lines and shorten travel time, while also giving commuters more alternative routes that bypass the busy interchanges at City Hall and Raffles Place. This will take the sum total number of CCL stations to 33, including 12 interchange stations that connect to other MRT Lines. Latest Updates The alignment of the Circle Line 6 (CCL6) was announced in October 2015 and construction works for the three final stations in the southern part of Singapore commenced in April 2018 with the installing earth retaining walls and stabilising structures for the station boxes, depot and tunnels is progressing smoothly. Thereafter, excavation works are likely to commence in mid-2019. In May 2017, public was invited to submit recommendations for the naming of the six CCL stations. About 1,950 participants subsequently voted in a public polling exercise. The finalised station names are “Keppel”, “Cantonment” and “Prince Edward Road&rdquo ;.Location of Stations Keppel MRT station footprint Keppel Cantonment MRT station footprint Cantonment Prince Edward MRT station footprint Prince Edward Road Key Facts No. of stations icon Amount of stations 3 Period of rail line icon Amount of line 4km Expected project completion icon Expected completion 2025 A complete of 11 new Circle Line trains is likely to be put into cater for additional convenience of the CCL6 operations in 2025. This increases the existing CCL fleet by 17 per cent from 64 to 75 trains. Manufactured and assembled in Spain, the new trains could have the next features: Condition Monitoring System where the device gathers data from equipment on the trains, allow continuous monitoring of the fitness of the equipment and for predictive maintenance for the trains; Automatic Track Inspection (AIT) System where the system enables monitoring of the running rails, track equipment and sleepers, identifies components that require maintenance and supplements existing track inspection activities; Current Collector Shoe Dislodgement Detection where current collector shoes is going to be equipped with sensors to enable the operator to react promptly and take necessary measures if any dislodgement is detected. Did You Know? Did you realize icon CCL6 is going to be built-in areas which can be fairly dense and near heritage sites. As such, special efforts are increasingly being made to ensure the works do not affect buildings with historical and architectural significance. Cantonment MRT station has been sensitively integrated with the old Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (which is gazetted as a national monument). To facilitate construction, several elements of the former railway station’s train platforms is going to be removed. LTA and the Urban Redevelopment Authority are seeking advice from the heritage consultant and members of the heritage community on possible solutions for the affected platforms. To cater for future needs, Kim Chuan Depot is likely to be expanded to almost double its capacity from 70 to 133 trains. The integrated depot will house 550 buses, which will allow us to optimise land use. The depot will soon be completed at the same time as CCL6 in 2025.
