Singapore’s prosperity is directly connected to the port’s development. Singapore had one of the busiest slots in the area back in the mid-1950s. The overwhelming influx of vessels led to the necessity for the Queen to make a dock.

In 1964, the Interface of Singapore Authority (PSA) was produced as a statutory board. Later, in 1968, the PSA Dockyard Department was established to administer the Singapore Drydocks and Executive Company. The name of the organization was transformed to Keppel Shipyard Personal Restricted on 23 May 1968.
Nowadays, Keppel Bay has changed. The shipyard’s procedures have now been transferred to Tuas and the docks no further exist. Keppel Bay has been transformed into a lavish enclave on the CBD fringe.

The docks of the past remain an important area of the island’s record, even though the landscape has changed to become modern Singapore. Keppel Bay went through among its first conversions in the 1900s. The federal government declared its approach to construct the King’s Dock in 1913, the biggest pier east of Suez. Structure took more than four and a half years, consuming around 203,000 tonnes of concrete. The King’s Pier turned the world’s second biggest when it opened.
